What God Do Masons Serve?

- AI Overview, Masons of Catifornia
I personally see a lot of negative press about our Fraternity these days and a lot of misinformation. When asked the “Religion” question, it can be difficult to come up with a quick response that gives a clear answer to the person or perspective candidate asking. I believe the information below to be a good overview of our fraternity’s beliefs.
Free Masonry requires a belief in a Supreme Being but does not identify a specific God, Rather the universal concept of a Creator. Belief in a Supreme Being or Deity is a fundamental requirement for joining the fraternity. In our Lodge we refer to God as the Great Architect of the Universe. This term is deliberately broad and non-sectarian, ensuring that men of different faiths can meet on equal terms in a Lodge.
Freemasonry is a fraternity, not a religion, and does not prescribe specific religious doctrines or worship a specific God. The requirement of belief in a Supreme Being or Deity ensures a spiritual and moral foundation without being a religion itself. This enables people of various faiths, including Christians, Muslims, Jews, and others to come together in Lodge. Members are free to adhere to their own faith and are encouraged to pursue their own relationship with God, or whatever Deity they prefer.
The goaI of Freemasonry is unity, brotherhood among men, personaI self-improvement and growth, moraI conduct and charity, with rituals providing allegorical lessons that apply to one’s own personal faith and belief. Our organization is founded on great principles and faith that have the capacity to make “good men better.”
